The SIOP Exchange is the new Web center for capturing the voice and commentary of professionals in I-O Psychology. The Exchange makes use of an interactive blog format that allows I-O psychologists to share their reactions to the latest news and innovations in all areas of the field. Professionals in the academic and applied domains are invited to submit posts that detail the latest happenings on popular topics that generate conversation, such as hot-topic issues, findings not yet published, and applications of I-O psychology that are new and innovative. Professionals from across the world can then ask questions, provide comments, and respond to other comments in reaction to these posts. New material is posted regularly, and every post is tagged with keywords so that topics of interest are easy to find. The Exchange provides readers with other community-related content, such as surveys, polls, I-O-related headlines from around the Internet, and a calendar of upcoming SIOP-related events. We invite you to become a part of the latest in I-O psychology!
How do I keep up with The Exchange?
Staying up to date with the latest in I-O psychology has never been easier. By making use of the blog format, readers are no longer required to visit The Exchange to be notified of new posts! The SIOP Exchange features the ability for readers to subscribe to an RSS feed that will deliver the most recent posts to any RSS reader or aggregator. When the title of a new post is sent to the RSS reader or aggregator in real-time, subscribers can simply click on the title access the page where the post can be read and comments can be written. For more information on RSS, read "Making RSS Work for You."
What types of comments should be made in response to posts?
The SIOP Exchange is first and foremost an arena for professionals to converse and share ideas about new and popular topics in I-O psychology. Comments to posts should enhance the conversation, offer complimentary ideas from different areas of expertise, or provide thoughts in reaction to the post and comments made by other visitors. In order to ensure that all comments remain professional and tactful, any comments that are lacking in professionalism will be subject to removal from the site.
Who can submit editorials, and how often are they posted?
Any SIOP member is invited to submit an editorial to be posted on The Exchange. Prior to posting, all submitted editorials will be read by an editor associated with The Exchange in order to ensure that all posts are professional, pertain to issues that are likely to generate conversation among the I-O community, and remain objective in the presentation of hot-topic issues. As such, editorials that read as advertisements and marketing campaigns will not be posted on The Exchange. Most editorials will be posted within one week of submission; any exceptions will be discussed with the author(s).
Is SIOP membership required to participate in The Exchange?
Membership to SIOP is not required to comment on posts or respond to surveys and polls that are posted on The Exchange. SIOP membership is required only for the submission of material to be posted on The Exchange.
